India Offer cheap electricity to Pakistan

At a time when Pakistan is facing acute shortage of electricity , India has offered to sell power at cheap 
 
rates to its energy-starved neighbour, Commerce Secretary Zafar Mehmood said today.

India's offer will be discussed at the meeting of the 
 
Commerce Secretaries of India and Pakistan to be 
held in Islamabad during April 27-28, Mehmood told 
the media.

 
 
However, he did not give details, including when New Delhi had made the offer.
  The meeting between the Commerce Secretaries is 
 part of the resumed dialogue process between the two countries.

British man who burned Quran jailed for 70 days as “theatrical bigotry”.


A convicted racist who burned a Holy Quran in front of city centre shoppers in Carlisle, north west England, has been jailed for 70 days after a judge described the act as “theatrical bigotry”.

Andrew Ryan stole a copy of the holy book from Carlisle Library and then set it on fire with a lighter as a crowd gathered to hear his protests in front of a monument. Police arrested Ryan shortly after the lunchtime incident on January 19 this year, reports British media.

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan successfully tested a surface-to-surface, short-range ballistic missile Nasr, Geo News reported.

Nasr, a multi-tube ballistic missile of Hatf series can hit with atomic warhead up to 60kms, according to a statement by the Inter Services Public Relations.
