PARIS: A New French law banning full-face veils in public places will take effect from next month - a move widely accepted as targeting the country's Muslim population.

The law follows France's burqa ban, which outlawed the wearing of the full-length garment worn by women in Islamic traditions. From 11 April, the full-face veil will be illegal to wear in public places - on the street, in the supermarket, in classrooms, in museums, on buses and in parks. The only exceptions to a woman wearing the niqab in public will be if she is travelling in a private car or worshipping in a religious place.

April 5, 2011 DAYTON, OH - Sister Cora-Ann, a Catholic nun from the Our Lady of Grace Monastery in Dayton, Ohio got the surprise of her life yesterday, when she was asked to leave the plane she had just boarded at the Omaha International Airport. "I had just sat down in my seat, and started to thank God for our blessings and recite a prayer in Latin", she recalled, when one of the passengers sitting next to me called the flight attendant. The passenger was Elizabeth Bennet, who later stated: "It is not that we were prejudiced, but she did seem very suspicious. She was dressed in Muslim garb and just before we were about to take off, she started mumbling something in an Arabian or Talibani-sounding language. What was I supposed to do?" Bollywood?...no thanks!

You belong to a rare species if you are 30 something and never tried to catch precious glimpses of Amitabh movies on your TV set via an aluminum antenna. You are even rarer if you remained ignorant (by choice or otherwise) to the growing Bollywood trends in the world cinema during the last couple of decades. Today consider yourself extinct of you cannot tell your Khans from Dutts. Being one of the survivors I am not sure if I am the last one to have resisted the Bollywood epidemic or there are others like me; viewing the inter/national movie scene like displaced dissenters hanging on to their last shreds of cinema perspicacity and common sense.

Good news for Pakistani Origin Canadian Citizen .... One more reason to go for Canadian Citizenship.
