Power shortfall surges to 6,000MW President takes notice of power crisis

 President Asif Ali Zardari has taken notice of severe energy crisis in the country and summoned the chiefs of power companies and concerned authorities in Islamabad tomorrow, Geo News reported.

Power crisis in the country has broken all past records, as the Pepco and PSO tiff relating to the furnace oil supply remained unresolved and the power shortfall has peaked to as high as 6,000 megawatt.


Thus, the duration of electricity load shedding in the major cities like Lahore has reached to 12 hours, while in the district and Tehsil headquarters it has jumped up to 18 hours and in rural areas to as much as 20 hours.
